S2 Ep18 — Thaddeus Ford

This week our guest is trumpet player Thaddeus Ford

Thaddeus, originally from New Orleans, is a sixth generation jazz musician - well, he started as a jazz player but he has expanded and evolved way past that limited description. We walk through Ford’s history and how he brought a piece of Nola music traditions to Dallas.

After surviving a heart attack at 35, Thaddeus’s life and career was given a fresh start and a chance to truly be authentic as a musician. Now Ford refers to his style as GUMBO, mixing many genres but still honoring them all.

Ford has played with Kirk Franklin and the Polyphonic Spree and is a teaching artist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Young Musicians Program since its inception.  He has so much more going on so take a listen to my chat with Thaddeus Ford.
